“Having no time means having no love. If you want to run away from responsibility you say, I have no time.” – Mother Baptista
Mother Baptista: Mother of Many Orphans

Mother Baptista’s love towards children was full of sacrifice and selflessness. She trusted in the Word of God where Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, do not stop them.”(Matthew 19:14) And, “Unless you become like little children, you will never enter the Kingdom of God.” (Mt 18: 2-4)
She said, “Remember that when you leave this earth, you can take with you nothing that you have received-only what you have given; a full heart, enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice and courage.”

Inspite of the huge amount of work that she was loaded with, she devoted much time to her orphans. No mother could have cared for them more lovingly than Mother Baptista did. Day and night, she was ready to look after them. She lived with them in “HAMARA” and always listened to their problems, no matter how trivial they were. No work was too hard for her when it had to do with her children.
The orphans, especially the girls, were of particular importance in Mother Baptista’s life. The boys and girls tenderly call her “MAMMA”.
Once she remarked, “After living with us (S.J.S) for some time, the expression on the children’s faces change.”

Once she was asked as to how does she manage to give so much of her time and energies to children despite having so much work on her hands. Smilingly she replied, “It’s very simple – having no time means having no love!”. “These poor parent-less kids need nothing as bad as the feeling of being loved,” she added.
